About East Boston
East Boston is probably the most anticipated, up and coming neighborhood in the Boston Metro. From it’s multi cultural population and restaurants, to it’s stunning water and full city skyline views, this had long been one of the best kept secrets in Boston (think Brooklyn everybody). East Boston (or “Eastie”, as it is affectionately known by some) has the feel of a small community, with the convenience of a big city. The MBTA Blue Line, which is accessible from all neighborhoods of East Boston, makes the commute into downtown quick and easy. Originally a center of shipbuilding, East Boston is one of Boston’s most diverse and vibrant neighborhoods. That diversity is reflected in the neighborhood’s myriad of ethnic restaurants, there is literally something for everyone from classic Italian to Latin American and everything in between.
In recent years, homeowners and developers have been restoring the historic properties of the area to their former glory, especially the top of Eagle Hill and Webster Street in Jeffries Point both with many Victorian mansions, classic triple deckers converted to condos and Sea Captain homes. Logan Airport is also located here, making it a gateway for people from around the world. Perched across the Boston Harbor, East Boston residents enjoy fantastic waterfront views of the city skyline, some of the finest in the area, especially from Boston Harbor Shipyard and Marina. From here enjoy the juxtaposition of a working and active shipyard with fabulous contemporary art installations, all sitting right on the water’s edge with the entire city skyline as the backdrop.
