About Downtown Crossing
Long known for retail and less for residential property, this remarkably convenient neighborhood has had a major transformation in the last decade. Positioned between the Theatre District, Chinatown and the Boston Common, with fabulous performance venues run by Emerson College, including The Paramount, The Cutler Majestic. The neighborhood is also still very much known as a bargain hunter’s paradise being home to Primark, DSW, TJ Maxx and Marshall’s. Along with many diamond brokers, jewelry dealers, and most of the city’s push carts.
Included in the neighborhood’s new found sophistication, the “modern-classic” luxury condominium tower 45 Province was completed in 2010. In 2013 Millennium Place sold out in record time and solidified the revitalization of Downtown Crossing (DTX) with several new restaurants opening in the commercial spaces below. The long awaited, crown jewel, the Millennium Tower is located at the site of the former Filene’s (and it’s very famous lower level Filene’s Basement). The convenience of this neighborhood’s location is unrivaled, down the road from the Financial District, Government Center, Back Bay or Beacon Hill. But if being a pedestrian is not your thing, there are three T stops: Park Street, Boylston, and Downtown Crossing, (red, green and orange lines, respectively), which will ultimately take you anywhere you need to go (seriously, the orange line runs to Back Bay Station where you can hop on the Amtrak to NYC, Washington DC or the coast of Maine).
